This
ministry seeks to expand its ministry by implementing some or all the
following initiatives that are under consideration.
1. Maintain and support strong family relationships by:
- helping children through the divorce recovery process;
- developing a suicide prevention program;
- strengthening father-child connections;
- providing pre- and post-marital programs;
- offering family communication retreats.
2. Support and equip family members for intergeneration care by:
- helping grandparents who are raising grandchildren;
- assisting adult children parent their parents.
3. Serve as a leader for Christian counseling, education, and spiritual direction by:
- sponsoring educational opportunities for the public and professionals, and including the option of
offering CEU's;
- supporting pastors by providing them with counseling;
- developing further direct services to south Sarasota County and expanding services to include north county, schools, and churches;
- networking with other community agencies;
- offering Spiritual Direction retreats.
4. Provide a holistic approach to therapy and the helping of persons by:
- adding the services of a psychiatrist, language therapist, psychologist, and mediator.
5. Increase resources to support this ministry by:
- establishing and securing contributions for a foundation;
- raising funds by sponsoring seminars for professionals;
- developing a marketing plan for advertising the services of Charis Center including a new brochure;
- applying for grants from community foundations.
