Fees vary depending on whether or not you have insurance and/or Medicare. The first session fee is $135; and, after that, each regular session fee is $115. For people who do not have insurance or Medicare, a Caring Fund discount (or sliding scale) is available based upon gross family income as shown on your 1040 tax form or other acceptable documentation. Full payment is due at the time of service, by cash or check only.

Your insurance policy is a contract between you and your insurance company. If your insurance is with a company the therapist you will be seeing is a preferred provider with, we will file claims; you will be responsible for your deductible and co-pay amounts. If the therapist is not a preferred provider with your company, we will give you an invoice which you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please be aware that some insurance policies do not provide mental health coverage or out of network benefits.

The best way to find out about your insurance coverage is to call your company and ask the following questions:

  1. Does my policy include mental health counseling?
  2. What is my deductible and how much of that has been met?
  3. How many visits per year do I get? Or what total dollar amount is available for counseling benefits per year?
  4. What is my co-pay amount or what percent of the fee do I pay?
  5. Do I need to see a certain provider? (If you know which Charis Center counselor you want to see you can ask if that particular counselor is covered under your policy.) What type license does that provider have to have (i.e. LCSW, LMHC, or psychologist or psychiatrist)?

If Medicare is your primary insurance, you are responsible for paying the $100 deductible and one-half of the fee. We will bill Medicare for the other half of the fee. If you have automatic crossover between Medicare and your secondary insurance company, the fee may be completely covered.
